Mad Men Dresses

I have just finished watching the last four seasons of mad men, and have fell in love. I love the characters, I love the story line, and most of all I love the CLOTHES. I love the 60s sillouette, whether its the tight curve hugging dresses that Joan wears, or Betty's beautifully full skirts.

I found some wonderful crafts people on Etsy who make clothes I would die for.

I just love the way the these dresses fit the body. And the variety of collars are just beautiful.

I love Cherise's dresses. They are so beautiful, and the way she makes them they fit different figure types and look super flattering on everyone. I want one so badly!

And this dress is definitely worthy of Betty. I love the full skirt look, but the key is, to have a nice full petticoat underneath. Otherwise, it will just hang, and not have that fluff.

If you want to get crafting and make some 60s style dresses, simplicity has several patterns that offer flattering Joan style silhouettes.
I actually bought this dress already made from a sale at our goodwill, it was a sale of Joann's sample dresses, it fits great (even in the size 10, usually i'm a 14!), and I can't wait to get my hands on this pattern to make a different one. Princess seams are the way to go for any figure.
I bought this one at Joanns, I looked for fabric to make it while I was there but I couldn't decide on anything (imagine that). I think it would be best in a solid thats slightly heavy, but I didn't see anything there I liked. I have a terrible habit of picking out really wonderful patterns, that are really hard to wear with anything else... Or because they are made for quilting are just too busy for a dress... I'll post an example sooner or later.

Hope you have been inspired by these wonderful 60s dresses!
